A very long list of words ahead.

I like to draw and stuff but only drew doodles and stick figures, they're terrible drawings. In November of 2021, I was inspired by my friends who are good at drawing when they showed me how terrible their drawings were when they were still starting out, I was amazed at how good at drawing they've become. They keep telling me that it doesn't matter how old you are or how talented you are, what's important is that you start drawing a little bit more seriously. So I did, I watched youtube lessons and researched some of the basics. Decided to do it digitally since I had a computer and when I drew traditionally, my habit of just doodling ruins my practice. At first, I was beginning to doubt that drawing just doesn't fit me. But my friends encouraged me and told me to not expect that I would draw better overnight, in a day, a week, or a year. And that it would depend on how much effort and research I am willing to invest in it. Though I was busy struggling to finish college and find a job, I would try to practice basic shapes, dimensions, lighting, and perspective. I still am not good at these things, in fact, I still consider myself a beginner till now. I had a lot of ideas, scenery, and other stuff that I wanted to draw so I practiced for at least 15 minutes every day. Watching old flash animations I used to watch in elementary, I remembered that I had a Newgrounds account so why not post my shit here. I have a lot of things I want to say but I can't seem the find the words or a way to say them. I am currently training as a machinist for a job I applied for and the location is a couple of miles away from my computer, so I can only draw for a few hours or less or even not draw if I'm very tired, and sleep for 5 hours.

Now that a year has passed, although little drawing has been done, I suppose all the effort and time I invested to get better at drawing all paid off, I'm still having thoughts that drawing is just not for me or I'm improving at a very slow pace, I think it's too late for me. But I am still proud of my drawings and will keep drawing even just as a hobby. I see the year-long improvement, But I still think it's not good. I still have a very long way to go.

Another post! haha. I guess it's about time to do another progress report. I apologize for not posting any finished artwork but I'll show all the works I've been doing. It's not good but I like it and hopefully I could finish it sometime in the future. Supposing this won't be the last time I'd be posting. To be honest I'm not really in a good mental state right now and will probably continue being so. and it impedes my drawing so it'll probably take a long while for me to take it easier on myself if not forever. I'll still be here lurking around, but won't be submitting any art(not that it changes things). I've been cooking up something these past weeks but just testing myself to compose sketches as quickly as possible under 20 minutes to see if I could do it. I did in the past on those knight characters but it didn't work out and gave up halfway. Was supposed to make a game but conceptualizing things alone is very hard. Here are my latest "workpiece". I hope you'll like it if anyone sees this anyway hahaha.

also, I didn't arrange these pictures well based on date and if I didn't mention it all of it are like unfinished and I don't really know what to call them other than workpiece.

Here's me hoping I won't stop drawing. But if I don't return well It matters not really. After all, this is all that I can do and if I can't draw anymore then why bother continuing it? So see you again later Newgrounds.. or not haha. all we can do is wait and see.

It's been a while since my last submitted art but I swear I'm not lazing around.. Well, Kinda.

Not really sure how things work here but I'll just click post here to write things

I'm writing a progress report or something similar because a friend told me to write one every hundred pages of drawing finished or not, good or bad. and I think I've only posted around 10 haha.

I've taken drawing with great interest since November 2021 and chose Newgrounds as a repository for my art and see any improvements I have in my art journey. But I didn't post everything I made. I was also interested in game development at the time so my first serious art was a character design. It was terrible.

So at this stage, I also started watching youtube tutorials. and there were some improvements I guess but I think It's because I spent more time on the piece than I usually do but I was unable to finish the piece. Looking at it I kinda wish I knew what tutorial I was watching.

I've not posted any of my art yet but my friend keeps telling me to post one whether it's good or not.

Then one day I was like hey I like cats why don't I draw cats all the time and this is where the theme of cats started.

this was my first submission here in Newgrounds. Looking at it now I wish I spend more time working on this.

I started drawing lines and squares and circles.

I really liked playing accordion but always wished to own a concertina so I drew a cat playing one.

I really like how it came out so I will redraw it sometime in the future.

Then I drew more and have a few good ones that I didn't post.

I forgot why I decided not to post these even tho they were good maybe it's because they didn't look the same, I dunno.

Then I did some sketches and liked these in particular.

Then made it look nicer and named her Dakini

It looked really great and I liked the character so I'll be making more of her in the future.

At this stage, I was experimenting but I seem to not finish the pieces that I start.

December

I really liked using high lights here

This was really good but I got lazy in the background

This one really got to me, It's just a sketch but I really liked it.

Another Sketch but here she looked very different than expected but I learned a few about how important shapes and shades are or so I think. Decided to name her Ash

Sketched a lot more. most of them are incomprehensible but here are some that look like something other than squiggles.

Feb

I was busy with College work and delivering goods and produce to and from our family farm with my dad at the time.

We kept passing by a dam so I decided to draw the place.

This time I took it seriously but I always had problems drawing backgrounds and foliage so I lazily imitated something similar I do in traditional where I do scribble outlines for foliage. After this one, I wanted to draw a view from a mountain near where I live but I was not satisfied especially with the rocks so I plan to change and finish it sometime in the near future.

March

After doing more sketches I missed doing highlights.

It was good but I realized I need to learn anatomy or at least copy hand references by sight, I then later decided that improving my fundamentals is important in the long run. So I stopped thinking about correct anatomy for now since I'm still in the early stages and rushing things might do worse than good.

I watched a tutorial on youtube about foreground and background and this one looked good. for me at least.

After this Illustration, my friends started an event where we draw knights every other night

April

Started to get busy with more College work so I can only do sketches

I still have a few WIPs so I'll have something to finish when I have some free time and hopefully finish something this month.

and that's what I've worked on so far.

I guess I'll make another post in the next hundred page or sumthing.
